TITLE: Senior Microsoft Azure Data Engineer
LOCATION: Atlanta, GA (hybrid)

Senior Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable data solutions using Azure Data Services, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Data Lake Storage.
  • Implement data integration and ETL processes to ingest, transform, and store data from various sources.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver effective data solutions.
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval, ensuring high performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Monitor and maintain data pipelines, addressing any issues or bottlenecks promptly.
  • Ensure data security and compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in Azure data technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems.
  • Create and maintain data transformation pipelines using Azure.
  • Perform source data profiling and analysis.
  • Design, develop, and test data mapping from source to target with transformation rules.
  • Define and enforce processes and procedures to ensure data quality and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for data integration and ETL solutions.
  • Design and develop complex data modeling, data tagging, transformations, and automated data quality validation routines.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, including code reviews, technical reviews, and project planning.
  • Support business stakeholders in requirements gathering, scoping, and testing.
  • Provide on-call support for production systems, including incident management, code corrections, upgrades, and patches.

Senior Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Data Engineer, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure.
  • Expertise in Azure Data Services (Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake Storage).
  • Strong experience with data integration, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and PowerShell.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, data governance, and security best practices.
  • Hands-on experience building and supporting high-performance data ingestion pipelines.
  • Experience working with clinical data standards like HL7 (preferred).
  • Familiarity with integration connectors (APIs, File, SFTP/FTPS, Streaming Data, DB Connectors, SOAP, REST).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated experience securing communications between endpoints.
  • Understanding of Agile SDLC methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Senior Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Preferred Experience:

  • Microsoft SQL Server in Azure.
  • Expert integration experience (MuleSoft experience is a plus).
  • TOGAF Certification.
  • Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Expert).
