Power BI and Cognos Contractor

Job Responsibilities:

1. Evaluate existing IBM Cognos reports, dashboards, and data models to understand the scope of migration.
2. Develop a detailed migration plan, ensuring alignment with business goals and user requirements.
3. Migrate and optimize data models, queries, and reports from IBM Cognos to Power BI.
4. Integrate Power BI with various data sources (SQL, cloud databases, Excel) and ensure data accuracy and consistency.
5. Recreate IBM Cognos reports and dashboards in Power BI, ensuring data integrity and a seamless transition.
6. Optimize Power BI visualizations, focusing on interactivity and user experience.
7. Validate migrated reports for accuracy, performance, and functionality.
8. Resolve any discrepancies and ensure reports meet business requirements through User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
9. Provide training to business users on Power BI features, report generation, and data exploration.
10. Document report structures, data models, and best practices for ongoing usage.

Required Skills:

1. Power BI Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Power BI, including report creation, data modeling, DAX, and Power Query.
2. IBM Cognos BI (Add Advantage): Hands-on experience with IBM Cognos BI suite (for migration, report generation, and dashboard design).
3. SQL Skills: Strong proficiency in SQL for data querying, transformations, and integration with Power BI.
4. Data Integration: Experience with integrating Power BI to various data sources (SQL Server, cloud databases, etc.).
5. Performance Tuning: Knowledge of performance optimization techniques for both data models and reports.
6. Business Intelligence Best Practices: Strong understanding of BI methodologies, reporting standards, and dashboard design principles.
7. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to interact with both business and technical teams.
8. Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies during migration and ensure data accuracy.
