Data Scientist - Defense and Intelligence Team
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join a dynamic team supporting the Intelligence Community. This role involves applying advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to solve complex problems, enhance analytic tradecraft, and deliver actionable insights in a fast-paced, data-rich environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop advanced models for object detection and characterization using Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and related tools.
- Integrate diverse data sources into coherent databases and train models to address real intelligence challenges.
- Communicate results through clear, concise reports and compelling visualizations tailored for decision-makers.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, fostering consensus and innovative problem-solving.
- Adapt to evolving priorities, handle ad hoc tasks, and support the development of technical systems and tools.
- Develop and train machine learning systems based on statistical analysis of data characteristics to support mission automation.
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, mathematics, operations research, engineering or computer science) + 7 years of experience, Masters Degree + 5 years of experience, or PhD + 2 years of experience
Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph.
- Proficiency in Python or R, with expertise in data science and machine learning.
· Programming experience with data analysis software such as R, Python, SAS, or MATLAB.
· Develop experiments to collect data or models to simulate data when required data are unavailable.
· Develop feature vectors for input into machine learning algorithms.
· Identify the most appropriate algorithm for a given dataset and tune input and model parameters.
· Evaluate and validate the performance of analytics using standard techniques and metrics (e.g. cross validation, ROC curves, confusion matrices).
· Oversee the development of individual analytic efforts and guide team in analytic development process.
· Guide analytic development toward solutions that can scale to large datasets.
· Partner with software engineers and cloud developers to develop production analytics.
· Develop and train machine learning systems based on statistical analysis of data characteristics to support mission automation.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with PyTorch, Keras, and overhead imagery analysis.
- Advanced degree in a technical field.
