Merit Cables is a manufacturer of cable assemblies, located in Santa Ana, California for over 40 years. We are a small company that is part of a larger group of Publicly-owned medical industry companies, and we are forecasting 20%+ growth this year. Currently, we are about 30 employees and growing, and this is an opportunity to join a dynamic team of manufacturing professionals.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to lead our finance department. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions, cash management, support for the manufacturing cost accounting and ERP functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing accurate financial reports monthly. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general ledger accounting and manufacturing/cost accounting, with a solid understanding of IFRS and technical accounting principles.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
  • AP and AR functions
  • Cash management
  • Review daily production work order transactions for accuracy
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide insights on financial concepts and assist in budget preparation.
  • Make daily/monthly journal entries for accuracy, ensuring proper debits and credits are applied.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and liaise with external auditors during audits.
  • Support the development of accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • and full charge accounting for small companies
  • Proficient in financial report writing and account analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of standards and technical accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a must.
