This is a Hybrid position, offering a balance of In-Office at our 101 E 15th St, Austin location, along with the potential of up to 2 days per week of teleworking. 40 hours per week. Work hours are flexible Monday - Friday, starting as early as 7:00am, ending no later than 6:00pm. Work schedule must be approved by Management.

What You Will Do

An Administrative Assistant provides clerical support for the Appeal Tribunal across the state. The Appeal Tribunal holds and hears the first level appeals from the original determination in disputed claims for unemployment insurance benefits. The Administrative Assistant performs entry-level administrative support work under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO

  • Perform entry level administrative support for the State Office Appeals Department of the Texas Workforce Commission.
  • Process outgoing mail within established time frame.
  • Use TWC provided equipment and systems to research, update records, create correspondence, or expedite cases for scheduling.
  • Use TWC provided equipment and systems to update necessary data on UI Claims Function based on AT Decisions.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries and may forward correspondence to appropriate personnel or department for processing or correction.
  • Communicate effectively, courteously, and in a professional manner with the public, staff, and all internal customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, which may include cross training to assist other units as need arises.

YOU QUALIFY WITH

  • Six months of full-time experience that provided knowledge of administrative support functions and office practices and procedures, or clerical administration and business management practices, such as preparation, maintenance, and control of forms, records, and reports.
  • Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
  • Acceptance into a TWC Internship, TWC Apprenticeship, or current participation in a TWC approved high school career and technical education program will satisfy the minimum qualifications.
