Job Summary: Leads X- r ay Manufacturing Engineering team in support of X- r ay r esearch & d evelopment, p rocess e ngineering, and p roduction support. Additionally , ensur es the process and sustaining engineering aspects of all projects are completed on time, within budget , and meet company and customer requirements. Works directly with engineering, logistics , and production management to incorporate new product into manufacturing and support s manufacturing and production control in the continuous improvement of existing product
- Essential Functions: Manages the team by collecti ng , evaluati ng , and present ing pr oduction yields and identif ying corrective actions for deviations in yield performance. G ather s and analy zes data relating to engineering design, manufacturing , and product support requirements. Leads the department in understanding product design and build processes ; ensures the use of standard methods and principles of Lean p roduct d evelopment, Theory of Constraints and p roject m anagement. Oversees the timely completion of team task s and proper documentation of results. Coordinates team evaluation of current processes and designs. Approves projects for improvements based on return on investment and risk. S upport s the Materials t eam with First Article Inspection and communicat es with vendors for non-conformity issues and the coordination of material and specification changes. Leads and trains team i n the effective use of FMEA, DOE, Gage R&R, GD&T, etc. Participate s in the development and execution of company goals regarding b usiness d evelopment opportunities, n ew p roduct d evelopment and i ntroduction, Continuous Improvement p rojects, and m anufacturing s ustainment activities. Manages the control and changes to p roduction process flow and documentation. Manages m aintenance activities including, planning for and executing effective preventative and corrective maintenance on the equipment
- Management Responsibilities: Lead, select, train , and develop the manufacturing engineering team
- Interfac e with other department managers, establishing work prioriti e s and allocations, communicating changes to team and customers (internal and external)
- Support the p roject/ t eam l eads with resource estimations, delivery , and timing plans
- Apprais e performance; reward and disciplin e employees; address complaints and resolv e problems; identif y individual goals and targets, review goals and targets on a quarterly basis; conduct recurring reviews and identif y opportunities for improvement of team members ; and support team by attending meetings Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in e ngineering and/or s cience - related discipline Master ' s degree in o rganizational l eadership or equivalent experience/training preferred 5+ years of experience in manufacturing/process engineer position 2+ years of p roject m anagement/ t eam l ead experience within a cross-functional development and process engineering team Competencies: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position. Strong background in applied sciences and process creation/management Strong background in project management and team leadership Strong communication skills. Able to prepare, present , and follow up on task s and direction given to a team, as well as communicate with other departments and their managers to coordinate resources.
