Position Overview: The Community Operations Lead will serve as the key partner to the Community Operations Manager, playing a crucial role in leading and shaping BP2025’s online community. This individual will oversee the day-to-day operations of the community, provide guidance and support to Community Specialists, and ensure alignment with BP2025’s mission and standards. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, a skilled communicator, and a proactive problem solver with a passion for community building and economic empowerment.

List Of Activities

Community Management:

  • Develop and execute strategies to foster an engaged and thriving community aligned with BP2025’s mission.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the BP2025 Discord server, ensuring smooth functionality and adherence to community guidelines.
  • Monitor community health and engagement metrics, implementing improvements as needed.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and provide guidance to Community Specialists, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge to excel in their roles.
  • Coordinate team schedules to ensure consistent coverage and support within the community.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with team members to address challenges and celebrate successes.

Operations And Safety

  • Collaborate with the Community Operations Manager to design and refine processes for community moderation, verification, and member engagement.
  • Ensure community safety standards are met, promptly addressing escalated member concerns or security issues.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to identify and mitigate risks to the community.

Engagement And Growth

  • Plan and execute events, campaigns, and initiatives to drive member engagement and retention.
  • Build relationships with community members to better understand their needs and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Act as representative of BP2025, fostering trust and transparency within the community.

Documentation And Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of team activities, member issues, and resolutions.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the Community Operations Manager, highlighting key metrics and insights.
  • Document and refine best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the community operations team.

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 15 hours per week
  • Attendance at bi-weekly Community Ops team meetings.
  • Applicants with flexible schedules, including evening, overnight, and weekend availability, are encouraged to apply.

Coverage Needed

  • Available 4+ days a week (All)
  • 4+ hours on Saturday and Sunday (does not have to be the same person)
  • 1 EST, 2 PST (7pm-12am)

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing or leading operations in online communities, preferably on platforms like Discord.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for conflict resolution.
  • Familiarity with support and management tools such as Zendesk, Slack, or similar platforms.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Knowledge of community safety and moderation best practices, with a focus on inclusivity and respect.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Passion for BP2025’s mission and a deep commitment to empowering Black communities.

  • Technical skills in community management bots, analytics tools, or platform integrations.
  • Background in social impact, advocacy, or related fields.
