Design System Community Manager

This role champions long-term progressive enhancements, scaling strategies, and cultivating system advocates. A growth evangelist focuses on fostering strong partnerships with cross-functional teams, promoting data-driven decision-making that leads to iterative system improvements. The role strives to create cross-team advocates who support, endorse, and help drive adoption of the system throughout the organization.

What is Aileron?

Aileron is our enterprise UI design system managed by the UX Design System team. It provides a universal design language for all our customer and employee facing applications. Aileron is made up of reusable design assets and presentation layer code components governed by clear standards within a design kit, code components library, documentation and supported with learning resources.

Mission

To empower our community of developers and designers and prioritizing American s reliability and profitability through community sourced UI. Our design system enables the design and build of all AA digital products for more consistent customer experiences.

Key responsibilities and day-to-day tasks:

Advocate for the scalable design system foundations that support product expansion at a platform level

Ability to share program vision, technical roadmap, and terminology with business and technical stakeholders

Facilitate stakeholder communication and outreach via support channels including internal website content

Join leadership meetings, internal IT conventions (show-and-tells), and platform team meetings to evangelize the program.

Gather data and insights from product teams to aid in strategically planning

Align design system to product team initiatives and OKR s

Share and Aileron roadmap with Product Management Organization roadmaps and ORK

Facilitate Aileron adoption agreements with product teams

Champion iterative improvements and updates to the design system based on feedback and data.

Required Skillsets

Knowledge and understanding of the value of community building around a enterprise assets (such as design systems, or share data, or cross-enterprise tools)

Social connector, ability to identify and form relationships with key influences throughout organization

Strong communication skills, ability to write and converse with both technical and business stakeholders

Comment: Onsite Tues-Thurs in SV8. Candidate needs to be local to DFW. No Visa candidates. Interviews will be 2 rounds. Looking for 5+ years experience. Top 3 to 5 skillsets: Knowledge and understanding of the value of community building around a enterprise assets (such as design systems, or share data, or cross-enterprise tools) Social connector, ability to identify and form relationships with key influences throughout organization Strong communication skills, ability to write and converse with both technical and business stakeholders Surrounding team/key projects: Reusable Frontend initiative: Migrate existing design system codebase from web components/lit to native-specific Angular and React
