Network Infrastructure Architect
Technical Expertise:
- Network Design and Implementation: Proficiency in designing and implementing network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and servers.
- Network Maintenance: Ensure resilient and redundant network architecture, monitor performance, and troubleshoot issues. Plan and execute maintenance windows. Establish a code revision control protocol across platforms.
- Network Assessment:Present a regular network assessment that highlights the risks to network availability and proposes mitigation options.
- Security: Knowledge of network security practices and compliance standards.
- Performance Monitoring: Ability to monitor and optimize network performance.
- Testing: maintain a strict pre-network deployment testing protocol.
Project Management:
- Planning and Execution: Experience in planning and executing network expansion projects.
- Documentation: Document network configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work with cross-functional teams to align network solutions with business needs.
- Vendor Management: Experience in collaborating with vendors and carriers to resolve issues.
- Customer Support: Skills in providing technical support and communicating with internal and external customers.
Leadership and Mentorship:
- Technical Leadership: Lead network changes, develop processes, and present network assessments.
- Guidance: Ability to mentor junior engineers, provide technical leadership and develop job aids for the technical organizations.
- Training: Skills in conducting training sessions to improve team proficiency.
Adaptability and Continuous Learning:
- Technology Evaluation: Ability to evaluate and select new network technologies.
- Emerging Trends: Keeping up to date with emerging networking technologies and trends.
Problem-Solving:
- Support and Troubleshooting: Provide tier 2 and tier 3 technical support and troubleshoot network problems. run postmortem analysis and follow detailed MOPs for maintenance and upgrades.
- Network Troubleshooting: Strong skills in diagnosing and resolving network issues.
- Root Cause Analysis: Skills in performing root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures.
- Incident Management: Adherence to best practices in incident and problem management. Establish a policy of immediate vendor ticket submission upon network and system incidents.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or ten years of equivalent experience. Certifications like CCNA or CCNP are advantageous.
- Network Engineering Expertise: Extensive experience in network engineering, design, and implementation, particularly in an FTTH service provider environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of network protocols and technologies such as BGP-LS, IS-IS, MPLS, RSVP, Pseudo-wires, VPLS, EVPN, IPv4, IPv6, CGNAT, Peering, VLANs, TCP/IP, and VPNs.
- Vendor Experience: Experience with routing and switching equipment from vendors like Nokia and Calix.
- Network Security: Proficiency in network security practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control lists.
- Monitoring and Management: Direct experience with network monitoring and management tools.
- On-Site Work: This job is not a remote position, and it requires an on-site presence at the Houston headquarters.
- FTTX Experience: Experience with XGS-PON-based access networks and FTTX deployments.
- On-Call Availability: Ability to lead and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
