The StartX Operations Associate - Facilities & Events position offers the chance to power the day-to-day operations of our dynamic startup community. You will make an immediate impact by managing our physical spaces and supporting our founders through excellent operational execution. As part of your daily responsibilities, you will maintain our technical facilities and help coordinate events that bring our community together. This is a unique opportunity to be at the heart of the startup ecosystem while developing broad operational skills.

This is a part-time role (20-30 hours per week). You must be available to work in our offices in Palo Alto, CA. There may be on-call duties associated with the role.

Responsibilities

Execute Facilities Operations:

  • Complete day-to-day tasks to ensure the office is functioning and welcoming, including sorting mail, preparing coffee, and resetting conference rooms.
  • Manage the desk rental program for StartX founders, including agreements, payments, and space assignments
  • Maintain and operate technical lab facilities, ensuring proper equipment functionality and safety protocols
  • Coordinate office and lab access systems
  • Manage inventory and procurement for office and lab supplies
  • Manage maintenance requests and coordinate repairs with our building engineers
  • Direct office service providers and vendors

Support Event Operations

  • Assist Program team in executing events and larger milestone gatherings
  • Manage event space setup and breakdown
  • Coordinate with vendors and caterers
  • Ensure spaces are prepared, professional, and clean for all activities
  • Support logistical needs for community programs

Drive Operational Excellence

  • Process invoices, rental agreements, and track operational expenses
  • Respond promptly to facility and event support requests
  • Manage relationships with building engineers, vendors and service providers
  • Implement efficient systems for space and resource management

Desired Experience

1-3 years of operational experience in any of the following:

  • Facilities Coordination
  • Event Operations
  • Lab or Technical Space Support
  • Property Management
