The Workstation Specialist will provide advanced PC installation, support, and troubleshooting across District 9's five-county region. This role requires hands-on hardware and software support, network configuration, and field site assistance. The position is 80% onsite and 20% remote, with travel required to various PennDOT locations. Strong technical expertise, customer service skills, and the ability to work in fast-paced environments are essential.
Duties:
- Provide Tier 2 support for hardware and software troubleshooting across various offices and remote sites.
- Install, configure, and maintain PC hardware, peripherals, and software in networked and standalone environments.
- Set up and troubleshoot Cisco VPN routers, ensuring secure remote access.
- Connect, disconnect, and configure PCs and printers within the network using Active Directory.
- Install and configure Windows OS, network drivers, and applications for proper system functionality.
- Deploy and support CISCO AnyConnect VPN software for remote users.
- Upgrade and repair PC equipment, including memory, hard drives, and input/output cards.
- Image workstations and perform SCCM troubleshooting, reporting, and compliance monitoring.
- Install and terminate Cat5e/6 network cabling and perform necessary patching.
- Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting for workstation-related issues and escalate as needed.
- Process enterprise user account requests and manage system access.
- Support mobile iOS devices (iPhones, iPads), including setup, troubleshooting, and mobile device management (MDM).
- Maintain and update garage diagnostic software on mobile devices and adapters.
- Track, manage, and document equipment inventory using the Remedy Asset Management System.
- Coordinate equipment deliveries, pickups, and deployments with staff.
- Support telecommunication systems, including VoIP phones, smartboards, and web conferencing tools.
- Document and improve technical processes and procedures to enhance efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with network security, software updates, and client's IT policies.
- Travel across a five-county region to support field sites, including construction zones and fleet equipment locations.
- Communicate effectively with end users, IT teams, and stakeholders to provide top-tier customer service and IT support.
Required Skills:
- 2+ years of experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting PCs in an enterprise LAN/WAN environment.
- 2+ years of experience installing and supporting laptops and docking stations.
- 2+ years of experience installing and troubleshooting printers and multifunction devices.
- 2+ years of experience with Remedy or a similar IT ticketing system.
- 2+ years of experience installing Cat5e/6 cabling, terminations, and patching.
- Valid Driver's License with the ability to travel as needed for trainings, meetings, and site support.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience installing and supporting Cisco VPN routers.
- Knowledge of Active Directory for workstation configurations.
- Familiarity with Hyena System Management Software.
- Experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
- Strong technical writing skills to document processes and procedures.
- Experience in project management and leading team deployments.
