In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, this position's annual salary range is $130,000- $140,000. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
- Lead and manage all safety and security personnel, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations
- Ensure staff compliance with all policies and procedures, maintaining required certifications and licenses
- Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive safety and security protocols, including emergency response, risk prevention, and regulatory compliance
- Conduct regular safety assessments, inspections, and risk management audits
- Manage security technology systems (surveillance, access control, etc.) and vendor relationships
- Oversee visitor management, traffic control, and facility security
- Maintain building security plans and safety manuals
- Develop and manage emergency response plans and conduct drills, ensuring compliance with NYC and NYS regulations
- Provide emergency response and support, including after-hours availability
- Serve as the first responder to security incidents and advise stakeholders on safety measures
- Cultivate a proactive safety culture and liaise with law enforcement, fire departments, and other external agencies
- Conduct safety training and presentations for staff and students
- Collaborate with all school departments to ensure a safe environment
- Maintain accurate records, conduct investigations, and submit required reports
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations
- Review and implement national best practices
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 10+ years in law enforcement, security, or safety (preferably in education)
- 5+ years in a supervisory security role
- Valid driver’s license and NYS Fire and Life Safety Director certification
- Proven leadership in security team management and personnel training
- Expertise in emergency management, risk assessment, and security technology
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to remain composed in high-stress situations
- Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities
- Proficiency in security systems, Google Suite, or related software
