
ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE/PROFESSOR OF ECONOMICS & BUSINESS
- Faculty develop curriculum relevant to ES courses on economics, business, and industry. Recommend lecture topics, course content, educational methods, and other curriculum requirements.
- May be asked to lead, co-lead, or otherwise contribute to an industry study examining one of 20 industries and their relationships to the U.S. national innovation and defense industrial base.
- Faculty assess student performance against standards outlined in applicable rubrics and provide timely and meaningful feedback to students in accordance with ES policy and timelines. They also act as the primary faculty adviser to several students, support multidisciplinary exercises, and serve as a research advisor, as required.
- Faculty engage in formal service to the ES and NDU, and maintain professional relationships in their field and with existing ES stakeholders in support of the ES mission. May serve as research adviser to individual students performing research on topic of academic interest relevant to national security decision-making and the Defense Industrial Base, assisting students in consultation with high level officials of the Department of Defense and other government departments, senior executives of business firms, and leaders of the civilian academic community.
- Faculty hired under this position description also perform other duties as assigned. The Eisenhower School values memberships, and all incoming faculty are assigned mentors on a voluntary basis. In addition, ES faculty are also encouraged to seek out opportunities for professional development consistent with school needs and subject to funding availability.

Qualifications
- An earned doctoral degree (preferred) or equivalent terminal degree (preferred), or an earned master's degree, in economics, business administration, or a closely related discipline.
- A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and curriculum development in an institution of higher education.
- Professional experience in a field related to political economy, microeconomics and/or business strategy, such as (1) assessing the domestic and global economic environment to inform national security; and/or (2) evaluating domestic and international industries using standard business tools; and/or (3) developing policy options in support of evaluating, marshaling, and managing resources to achieve national security objectives, such as fiscal and monetary policy; and/or (4) expertise in an industry sector relevant to U.S. national security.
CRITERIA FOR DETERMINING ACADEMIC RANK:
Assistant Professor must possess an earned doctoral degree (preferred) or equivalent terminal degree (preferred), or an earned master's degree in economics, business administration, or a closely related discipline. Individual must have professional experience in a field related to political economy, microeconomics, business strategy and/or an industry sector relevant to U.S. national security. Individual must also have documented full-time teaching experience at a regionally accredited university or college.
Associate Professor must possess an earned doctoral degree or equivalent terminal degree in economics, business administration, or a closely related discipline. Individual must have significant professional experience in a field related to political economy, microeconomics, business strategy and/or an industry sector relevant to U.S. national security. Individual must also have documented full-time graduate-level teaching experience at a regionally accredited university or college for at least five years.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
