Christian Montessori School of Ann Arbor is seeking a joyful and passionate Early Childhood toddler assistant teacher to join our amazing staff of educators. The ideal candidate will be warm, vibrant, and compassionate towards children and will help to create a joyful learning environment with their teaching team. The candidate should have at least one year of paid professional early childhood care experience, especially with toddlers and/or infants.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, approx. 7.45am-3.45pm.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • A sincere willingness to learn and incorporate all aspects of the Montessori philosophy
  • Work with and support the co-teacher in preparing and maintaining an emotionally responsive, nurturing, accepting, and safe classroom environment that provides both independent and social learning that meets the varying needs of the students
  • Facilitate care of toddlers and the environment as directed by the Lead Teacher, including changing diapers and dirty/wet clothes, preparing lunches and snacks, etc.
  • Reliable: punctual and consistent attendance
  • Ability to think for yourself and anticipate the needs of toddlers
  • Respect for children and adults
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Perform repetitive bending, stooping, and sitting on the floor
  • General housekeeping of a Montessori toddler environment
  • Maintain a positive and pleasant outlook in what can be a fast paced, stressful environment
  • Flexible mindset
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with team members, parents, and administrators
  • Opportunities for advancement and training; paid professional development
  • Computer literacy needed to enter attendance and care information into custom software


Job qualifications include:

  • Professional (paid) infant/toddler classroom or in home experience of at least one year.
  • Experience in a Montessori classroom preferred
  • Christian faith preferred
  • Ability to meet the State of MI background checks
  • Effective and independent written and oral communication skills
  • Minimum high school diploma/GED and early childhood or child development degree/courses helpful
  • Must be able to work Monday through Friday approx 7.45am to 4.30pm (exact hours to be decided)
  • Must be able to work independently and take initiative
  • Must be at least 18 years old
