We are seeking a skilled Database Architect for a long-term contract in support of our client in Austin, TX. This position can be worked remote within the state of Texas, however you will be required to attend onsite meetings in Austin, TX with reasonable notice. This position requires an individual capable of overseeing multiple projects concurrently, documenting and analyzing existing databases and systems, and supporting the migration to new technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in database architecture, data modeling, and working with both SQL Server and Oracle databases. You will play a key role in the migration of legacy data to new platforms, ensuring a smooth transition and continued data integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Database Architect duties as part of the Data Governance team, managing and overseeing one or more projects simultaneously.
- Document existing "as-is" database schemas in SQL Server and Oracle environments.
- Analyze and document data interfaces within legacy systems.
- Assess and document downstream impacts and data extraction processes for reporting.
- Create and reverse engineer data models within an AWS SQL Server environment.
- Define and document the technical architecture for new transactional systems, covering both physical components and their functionality.
- Support and oversee the migration of legacy data to the new database architecture, ensuring proper data conversion and migration.
- Develop scripts to facilitate data conversion and migration from legacy systems.
- Perform additional analysis and documentation as required to support migration activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4-7 years of experience in a Database Architect role.
- 4-7 years of experience with data modeling in SQL Server Enterprise Edition.
- 4-7 years of experience in analyzing and generating technical requirements and designs.
- 4-7 years of experience in database development using relational databases (RDBMS).
- 4-7 years of experience in designing SQL Server databases for high-usage/high-availability transactional systems.
- 4-7 years of expertise in database tuning techniques.
- 4-7 years of experience in analyzing source databases, their integrity, and profiling source data.
- 4-7 years of experience in data mining and archiving.
- 4-7 years of experience working with MS SQL Server DBMS.
- 4-7 years of experience managing RDBMS in AWS or Microsoft Azure environments.
- 4-7 years of experience in creating source-to-target mapping database documentation.
- 4-7 years of experience assisting with data migration from legacy databases to new target systems.
- Current Texas Residency
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience working with multiple types of RDBMS (DB2, SQL Server, Oracle).
- 5+ years of experience with case management or educational systems, specifically in a State of Texas context.
- 3+ years of experience with REST API Services.
- 3+ years of experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Austin Texas Metropolitan area residency.
