- Oversees the conservation, preservation, restoration and use of all lake natural resources.
- Oversees various out-grant programs, including concession leases.
- Prescribes resource management actions and plans that promote biodiversity and native species re-establishment.
- Recommends and implements a program of ecosystem assessment as a baseline for measuring impacts of public use
- Coordinates overall development and maintains land and natural resources management plans.
- Periodically reviews and inspects each phase of the natural resource management program.

- Participates in the district natural resources management program by recommending policy changes, maintenance standards, O and M procedures, cost reductions, and other phases of the program
- Explains to the visiting public conditions prevailing within the lake area, its purpose, and association with other programs, rules, and regulations affecting use of facilities.
- Coordinates efforts of federal, state, local, civic, social, and others to obtain interest and support including the use of the press, radio and television in furthering Corps policy and programs.
- Frequently attend civic and public meetings and hearings to speak or participate in discussion of problems and to promote mutual understanding and coordination of the overall Recreation and Resource Management programs.
- Consults with and advises other team members regarding their role in the conservation of natural resources.
- Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
- Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments.
- Evaluate work performance of subordinates.
- Interview candidates for positions in the unit; recommend appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions.
- Develops and/or administers various service contracts and assists the contracting officer with oversight of contracts.
- Reviews requests and oversees shoreline management program for shoreline permits for private floating recreation facilities and vegetative modifications.
- Recommends the short and long-range objectives, which serve as the principal framework for determining budget and personnel requirements for the lake.
- Administers timber harvest and aquatic weed control programs.
