  • You must be a student, currently enrolled, at least half-time at a qualifying, accredited education institution or accepted for enrollment/enrolled in an approved program.
  • Enrollment must be at least half-time course load as defined by the education institution (typically six hours or equivalent for undergraduate and three hours or equivalent for graduate)
  • Meet the qualification standards of the position
  • Incumbent may be required to type 45 words per minute for Office Automation positions.

Qualifications: You must be enrolled in an accredited educational institution for all grades, at the time of application submission (proof of enrollment and a copy of transcripts are required)
GS-04: Education: One year of general experience for GS-0599-03 level positions. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

Education: Completion of 2 academic year of post-high school study or an associate's degree. (You must submit a copy of transcripts)

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of a body of standardized military pay rules, regulations, laws, allowances, and procedures; the data system(s) used to support military pay actions; and federal debt collection rules and regulations.
  2. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.
  3. Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required.
  4. Skill in performing arithmetic computations to compute military pay.
  5. Ability to interpret/apply regulations and procedures related to military pay; and to operate a calculator.
  6. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.



PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
