JOB SUMMARY:



The Microsoft Security & Systems Administrator role involves managing and maintaining the security posture of our network and Microsoft systems, including Azure, Active Directory, Office 365 applications, and other Microsoft services, by implementing security policies, monitoring for threats, managing user access, troubleshooting security issues, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, all while providing technical support to users regarding security best practices within the Microsoft ecosystem. This administrator will ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards in accordance with WFS IT Policies & Procedures.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



Security Policy Implementation:



  • Defining and enforcing security policies across Microsoft platforms like Azure, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams.

  • Configuring security settings for user accounts, groups, and applications to manage access controls.

  • Implementing data loss prevention (DLP) policies to protect sensitive information.



Threat Monitoring and Response:



  • Actively monitoring security alerts and incidents generated by Microsoft security.

  • Investigating potential security breaches and taking appropriate response actions.

  • Identity and Access Management:

  • Managing user accounts, permissions, and roles within Azure Active Directory.

  • Implementing multi-factor authentication (MFA) and other identity protection measures.



Compliance Management:



  • Assists the IST department to ensure the agency's information technology and systems adhere to HIPAA, LA County, Department of Mental Health (DMH), Council on Accreditation (COA), and other regulatory or contractual requirements.

  • Report on compliance status to relevant stakeholders



Technical Support:



  • Identify the need for updates and upgrades and implement them to the network infrastructure.

  • Manage organization software and licensing for apps such as Adobe, Zoom, O365, JAMF, etc.

  • Administer and oversee the performance of servers, including software and hardware to ensure they operate at an optimum level.

  • Maintain security and integrity of the IST server room and equipment.

  • Troubleshoot IST related issues and provide guidance on best practices.

  • Lead and mentor the technical team, fostering collaboration within the IST department. Work closely with other IST analysts to resolve support requests and contribute to project tasks.

  • Ensure new applications are integrated and deployed efficiently and seamlessly across the business.

  • Maintain up to date, organized technical documentation for future reference. Communicate effectively with management, users, and internal/external resources.

  • Actively participate in project meetings, committees, user groups, and other events as assigned. Perform additional departmental duties as needed to support ongoing agency needs.

  • Manage Meraki camera and network infrastructure to ensure optimal uptime and security.

  • Perform other departmental duties as assigned by the Information Technology Manager or at the request of the Senior Director of IST to support the on-going agency needs.



REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:



Education & Certifications:



  • Possession of an associate degree or a certification from a technology-focused accredited program, or a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.

  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals are highly desirable.



System Administration:



  • Skilled in supporting desktop computing environments with Microsoft products such as Windows 11, Office365, and Active Directory

  • Advanced skills in Active Directory, O365, and networking. Extensive experience in helpdesk operations, including user support, training material development and delivery, systems analysis, and troubleshooting.

  • Demonstrated experience managing over 20 Windows Servers and server virtualization technologies like VMWare or Microsoft Hyper-V.



  • Proficient in the deployment and rollout of servers and applications.

  • Strong understanding of LAN/WAN networking principles and network administration

  • Expeirnece configuring, administrating, and maintaining Cisco Meraki products such as Firewalls, WAP, Routers, and Switches

  • Proficient with PowerShell scripting,



  • Ability to diagnose complex security issues and implement effective solutions.



Security Administration:



  • Deep understanding of Microsoft 365 security features, Azure Active Directory, and related security tools (i.e., MS Defender, Intune)

  • Strong foundation in cybersecurity concepts like threat analysis, vulnerability management, incident response, data loss prevention, and access control. Bonus points if you have exposure or knowledge of penetration testing

  • Strong understanding of regulatory controls and compliance frameworks such as HIPPA and PCI-DSS

  • Expeirnece researching, evaluating, selecting, and implementing third-party security software tools



Other:



  • Clear communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical users and collaborate with other teams.



  • Must hold a valid California driver's license, maintain an insurable driving record under the agency's liability policy, and be capable of traveling between agency site locations as required.
