As part of the UnitedHealthcare StudentResources team, this position is responsible for managing the client implementation organization responsible for over 500 new and existing clients; process ownership for the entire customer commitment portfolio (i.e., performance guarantees, performance rewards, wellness stipends); RFP facilitation and reconciliation; affordability/medical cost improvement idea generation and strategy development in the category of cost (e.g., physician, outpatient, or inpatient) in partnership with Healthcare Economics and enterprise teams; Business process parity review, risk and mitigation delivery; along with strategic planning, coordination and delivery of year over year strategic projects and initiatives across various functional areas. This position provides subject matter expertise for the installation of assigned accounts, including, but not limited to: structure building and billing set up, structure revisions, researching & resolving structure issues, database loading, and preparation of plan materials such as administrative documents and customer education materials. In additional, all business processes including process scope definition, risk identification, project methodology, resource allocation, facilitation, and other areas of expertise. This leader interacts directly with clients pre, post and during implementation to ensure all commitments are met. This leader continuously analyzes trends, processes and spend to identify opportunities and mobilizes cross-functional partners to create cohesive and innovative solutions that address identified opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the client implementation organization responsible for over 500 new and existing clients
  • Lead and manage a team of implementation managers for complex new business customers and renewals
  • Provides implementation leadership directly with clients pre, post and during implementation to ensure all client commitments are met
  • Establish, implement, and manage client contractual commitments (i.e., performance guarantees and performance rewards
  • Evaluates and implements automation opportunities for clients with a focus on NPS, including auditing of standard and non-standard client installations
  • Identify root causes if issues impacting clients/consumers and bring together cross-functional partners to find solutions
  • Lead strategy ideation and development in multiple categories of cost, growth, and experience for the StudentResources Business
  • Benchmark, delineate and improve SR functions and adopt enterprise practices to simplify, standardize and bring uniformity of experiences while delivering the highest quality outcomes to consumer base
  • Develop, prioritize, manage, and execute affordability initiatives, owning and managing end to end process nationally and internationally
  • Responsible for significant contributions to ideation and pipeline development through disciplined evaluation of underlying medical and pharmacy spend, emerging trends and costs, etc.
  • Act as a strategic thought leader, bringing client and consumer insights
  • Translate highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences and influence senior leadership to adopt new ideas, products, and/or approaches
  • Present opportunities and solutions to senior and executive leadership on a regular basis

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in managed care or health plan management with accountability for business results
  • Experience in client-facing role
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with MS Office Suite: Excel, Power Point, Word
  • Proven solid data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Proven solid negotiation skills and the ability to gain acceptance from others of a plan or idea and achieve a mutually beneficial outcome
  • Demonstrated ability to manage others directly, and to influence without authority
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize resources using Solid interpersonal skills, excellent judgment, and an attitude that fosters teamwork and supports organizational goals
  • Demonstrated ability to form alliances with supporting partners and work in a matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated superior presentation skills
  • Demonstrated strategic and critical thinking skills with proven ability to communicate a vision and drive results
  • Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills, Solid team player, and self-starter - able to initiate work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified in project management and/or LEAN skills and/or Six Sigma
  • Consulting experience
  • Experience with senior/executive-level communication
  • Experience in the payer and provider segments of the health care industry
  • Proven self-directed professional with Solid ability to work through ambiguity
  • Proven excellent interpersonal skills with experience working across all levels of an organization

The salary range for this role is $124,500 to $239,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
