Job Title: Help Desk II Asset Technician

Location: Madison, WI

Job Summary:
IRG Clients is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Asset Technician to join the Technology Services team. The Asset Technician will be responsible for managing and maintaining the physical assets within agency's Technology Services hardware depot. This includes tracking, labeling, distributing, and installing IT hardware while ensuring compliance with IT policies and inventory management best practices.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management: Maintain an accurate inventory management system for all technology assets, including CPUs, printers, monitors, cables, docks, and repair/replacement parts.
  • Asset Tracking & Labeling: Assign unique identification numbers, barcode tags, and input tracking details into the inventory management system.
  • Order & Distribution Coordination: Track incoming orders, receive shipments, and schedule distribution and installation of assets across Madison College locations.
  • Storage & Organization: Ensure assets are stored in an orderly and organized manner for easy access and efficient deployment.
  • Hardware Replacement & Maintenance: Assist in the district-wide strategy for replacing outdated hardware and software. Respond to incident tickets and replace dysfunctional equipment as needed.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Follow IT policies, monitor technology assets, and document distribution and tracking processes for district-wide reporting and compliance.
  • Asset Disposal & Removal: Organize and facilitate the decommissioning and removal of outdated or non-functional technology assets from inventory.
  • Technical Knowledge: Maintain an in-depth understanding of Technology Services support products, incident management systems, and best practices for asset management.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • IT inventory management principles and best practices.
  • Customer support procedures, IT maintenance practices, and system capabilities.
  • IT asset lifecycle management, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and disposal.

Skills in:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Advanced problem-solving and technical troubleshooting.
  • Planning, resource allocation, and process optimization.
  • Incident management system usage and reporting functionality.

Ability to:

  • Work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in verbal and written formats.
  • Identify stakeholders, analyze problems, and implement solutions.
  • Maintain operational support, perform periodic reviews, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lift up to 40 pounds and climb a 12-ft ladder while carrying or installing IT equipment.
