Compliance Auditor
A leading healthcare organization is seeking a HIMs Compliance Auditor to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and internal policies. This fully remote position involves conducting audits, identifying areas for improvement, and providing recommendations to enhance documentation accuracy and regulatory adherence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive audits of medical records to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including HIPAA and CMS guidelines.
- Review coding accuracy and documentation integrity to mitigate risks and ensure proper reimbursement.
- Identify trends, patterns, and discrepancies in medical record documentation and coding practices.
- Provide feedback and education to healthcare providers and staff on documentation and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop action plans for addressing compliance issues.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, policies, and best practices to maintain audit effectiveness.
- Prepare detailed reports and present findings to leadership.
- Assist with regulatory audits and respond to inquiries from external auditors.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in HIM auditing, coding compliance, or a related role.
Certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and DRG coding guidelines.
- Familiarity with CMS regulations, HIPAA, and other healthcare compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for provider education and collaboration.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting with minimal supervision.
