This position is located in Phoenix, Arizona with the 161st ARW. This is an Air National Guard (ANG) Dual Status (DS) Technician position requiring military membership, compatible military skill assignment, and classification. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor and/or flight chief, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the Security Forces Flight.


THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

Conditions of Employment

  • ARIZONA AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air National Guard, in a military position assigned to 161st ARW.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver’s license.
  • NOTE: Individual selected will receive an Indefinite Appointment and may be converted to permanent based on availability of funds or position no longer being encumbered.
  • This position is subject to rotating shifts.
  • Incumbent must be qualified in the use of required weapons, as the incumbent will be required to use firearms in performing duties.
  • May be required to wear special protective clothing such as coats, boots, vests, respirator masks, and/or helmets.
  • Must obtain and maintain first responder training/certifications required in CPR techniques, self-aid buddy care, and first aid on the job and maintain annually.
  • Must undergo initial and periodic job compatibility assessments.

Military Grades: E-5/SSgt to E-7/MSgt

Compatible Military Assignments: 3P0X1

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. Supervisory positions must possess experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
