Job Description

Our Investment Banking Business Management Group is actively looking for an experienced Associate to join the team in New York. The function reports into the Managing Director of Business Strategy and works closely with the Head of Investment Banking, Group Heads, and other Business Management counterparts across the firm. The candidate will play an important role in the development and articulation of departmental strategy, the recruitment and onboarding of new personnel, the management of training programs, and more. Ideal candidate would have a strong desire to grow with Oppenheimer Investment Banking over the next 5-10 years, be the driver of change and efficiency, and take ownership and pride in building a durable business with us.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Reporting & Analytics – Support the creation of materials and analyses for Head of Investment Banking, including quarterly board materials, town hall presentations, quarterly banking credentials, performance benchmarking utilizing Dealogic, industry trend research, and business case justification. Assist with implementation planning and roll-out of key initiatives. Aggregate and synthesize information to produce high-quality, insightful content for management.
  • Operation & Administrative Support – Help manage day-to-day operations of the Investment Banking Department, including but not limited to coordinating with Marketing to update the intranet, working with IT to troubleshoot technical issues, and collaborating with HR to reinforce firm-wide and departmental policies.
  • Talent Recruitment & Management – Be an integral part of creating strategies that identify, target, attract, engage and secure top talent. Work alongside key stakeholders and the business management team to drive recruitment processes, coordinate onboarding, and implement talent retention strategies.
  • CRM – Be a resource for industry and product bankers using DealCloud. Assist with the adoption of the CRM system by supporting new and existing integrations, maintaining accurate system data, automating regular reports, and helping create user-friendly dashboards for team leaders. Contribute to strategies aimed at increasing system engagement and usage.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience, preferably at an investment bank or consulting firm, or experience in a corporate strategy function
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Driven mentality with confident interpersonal skills to interact with stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and executive presence
  • Exceptional organizational skills; ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail
  • High degree of maturity, integrity and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Proactive, self-starting team player who excels in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, challenging work environment
  • Knowledge third party platforms such as Dealogic and FactSet a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word a must

Compensation

For job postings in New York City, Oppenheimer is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. This salary range is specific to New York and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making salary decisions including but not limited to your skills, qualifications, experience, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range is $110,000.00 - $125,000.00 at the time of this posting. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as discretionary bonus.
