POSITION SUMMARY
The Credentials Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and facilitating the credentialing and re-credentialing functions. The Credentials Coordinator is accountable for all aspects of the application and reapplication processes to support the CVO Services Department, Manager, and VP/Chief Medical Officer.
Primary Accountabilites
- Assists with maintaining a comprehensive credentialing program to ensure compliance with the governance documents and regulatory authorities. Meets with regulatory surveyors as needed
- Participates in and coordinates the credentialing and recredentialing process for medical staff and allied health professionals, locum tenens physicians, and temporary privileges appointments.
- Ensures appointment and reappointment credentialing files are complete and accurately verified along with all required documentation prior to transmission to Medical Staff Services Department(s).
- Responsible for the data intake and collection from the primary source and other resources for the practitioner’s applications.
- Performs primary source verification and other data source collection required for initial appointment and reappointment.
- Maintains electronic (and paper as needed) credentials files.
- Completes the data gathering process for practitioner credentials files within the established guidelines for turnaround times, accuracy, and in accordance with external regulatory requirements including but not limited to The Joint Commission, CMS, and NCQA, etc.
- Assists in the maintenance of all practitioners’ credentials files: assuring all mandatory documents are current and on file and monitoring for continuous compliance of expirables.
- Assists Manager with monthly department goal tracking.
- Demonstrates effective, prompt and courteous verbal and written communication with consideration for all levels of customers (including physicians, AHP’s, team members, physician office staff, volunteers, students, administration, etc.)
- Serves as an advisor/mentor/trainer to new associates within the department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Work Experience: Three (3) years of administrative experience in a Healthcare environment.
- Licensure: None
- Certification: None
- Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other software applications related to the role.
- Ability to work autonomously and assertively to meet deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize and organize workflow to maximize quality and service.
- Strong critical thinking skills to make independent judgments.
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful environment.
- Education: Associate’s degree in relevant field.
- Work Experience: Prior credentialing or medical staff experience.
- Certification: National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS)
- Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping.
- Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
- Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
- May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined, onsite, or remote.
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
