
Airway Transportation Systems Specialist (Service Operations Center)
Performs a variety of functions using technical expertise and knowledge of complex systems, emerging technology, systems interrelationships, and management of the NAS that directly relate to NAS operation. Provides complete services and support to air traffic customers and other NAS users over a large geographic area with a focus on the availability and reliability of the facilities, services, and equipment. Collaborate with multiple customers to shutdown and restore facilities, services, and equipment to minimize disruption of services to the flying public. Initiates action for the timely repair and/or restoration of facilities, services and equipment, taking into account the availability of back-up systems, possible reconfiguration to minimize service interruptions, and the relative criticality of particular functions to the safe and efficient operations of the NAS. Ensure all NAS events are logged appropriately in Maintenance Management System (MMS) and/or Event Manager. Responsibilities include planning, directing, coordinating, and monitoring maintenance activities associated with the management of the NAS with a high degree of independence from supervisor. May be assigned other duties in support of the NAS.

Qualifications
Candidates must show experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility that is appropriate to the position. Experience that demonstrates an extensive knowledge of and experience in technology system interrelationships, and management of civilian or military automated aviation, navigation, and electronics systems. Generally, experience at the next lower level (FV-H, Level III), meets the minimum qualifications for this position as long as the experience supports the demonstrated abilities identified below.

Temporary Positions: This is a temporary position not-to-exceed one year; it may be extended, terminated or may become permanent without further competition.
Upon completion of this assignment, the selected employee shall return to his/her original permanent position or an equivalent position in the same commuting area.
