
TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT (FREIGHT)
- You will manage shipment solutions effecting off-station shipping of general freight, hazardous materials, Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives, classified, high dollar value, fragile, security-risk aviation and ship materials.
- You will ship materials using all modes of transportation.
- You will make informed decisions based on cost analysis to be determined by material characteristics/classification, dimensions and weight, urgency of need, and customer mission requirements.
- You will serve as a freight/Small Package Express (SPE) shipping technical consultant and advisor, providing technical advice and administration of all customer shipments.
- You will perform as technical advisor on transportation policy matters, providing tracking formation, liaison between military transportation, commercial carriers, customers, and tenant commands.
- You will review shipping laws, regulations, and procedures, and exercise considerable independent judgment to identify priorities and interrelationships to execute customer's required delivery date.
- You will review shipping requests for accuracy, communicate with the customer when needed, make corrections, and forward shipping request to the Regional Transportation Office (RTO).
- You will analyze the material dimensions and weight to determine specific handling, packing, loading or type of carrier tracking or equipment required.
