Sidwell Friends is seeking a PK-4th grade math specialist to oversee and steward mathematical learning across the lower school. The work is two-pronged: supporting our teachers in facilitating an engaging, meaningful, differentiated and aligned math curriculum and providing direct interventions/supports for students who need it.
The math specialist serves on two teams: the Student Support team that focuses on equitably supporting and challenging all our learners, and the academic team that focuses on high quality curriculum and instruction across the grades. - Building strong content knowledge and pedagogical practices at each grade level
- Evaluating and refining curriculum, with an emphasis on differentiation and supporting all learners
- Collaborating with teachers to unpack units of study and plan out learning based on student assessments, learning targets, etc.
- Developing strong assessment practices and linking them to planning and differentiation
- Supporting the refinement of curriculum to ensure we are meeting the 3 goals of: deep conceptual understanding, strong procedural knowledge and fluency/automaticity
- Working with our student support team to provide additional supports/interventions for students who need it
- Curating and organizing resources for teachers to provide them the tools they need to support students
- Leading parent education to help families understand how to support their children
Salary
- Salary Range $61,942-$115,069. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
