1. Hands-on experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment
2. Ability to convey detailed observations (verbal & written)
3. Problem solving skills
Nice to Have Skills
1. Experience with mechanical test equipment & measurements (torque drivers, tensile testers, micrometers, pressure gauges, etc).
2. Experience with documentation in a quality (manufacturing or laboratory) environment
3. Prototyping experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for performing a wide variety of research and development laboratory tasks and experiments, focused on mechanical testing and prototyping.
- Will develop and maintain record keeping for experiments performed.
- Required to make detailed observations of tests, analyze data, and interpret results.
- Will maintain medical device laboratory equipment and inventory level of laboratory supplies.
- Will document summaries of testing and may write test protocols and reports.
- May support troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities.
- May be assigned routine assembly and testing portions of projects (e.g. product performance and software script testing).
- May support the prototyping and rework of medical devices, including mechanical and electrical activities.
- Initial project will involve disassembling and reassembling a complex electromechanical device while taking measurements.
- Work will be both onsite and at an external test lab observing the execution of testing.

- List knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

- Perform work with minimum supervision and have the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Must have good interpersonal, communication (both written & verbal), ability to create detailed documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills such as word processing, data entry, and e-mail.
- Experience with testing in a laboratory or production environment.
Education and/or Experience: Include the education and experience that is necessary to perform the job satisfactorily.
- High School diploma or equivalent, AA degree is strongly preferred.
- 1+ years experience in an electro-mechanical laboratory environment
- Basic computer skills
- 1 year of recent experience
Preferred:
- B.S. in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Experience with engineering tools and statistical software.
- Ability to understand technical schematics and statistical tools.
- Experience with tensile test systems, and other mechanical laboratory equipment
