  • Maintain the appointment system and RPMS and organizes appointments to accurately reflect routine clinics, specialty clinics and the medical provider's schedules. Schedule appointments to accommodate the medical and personal needs of patients.
  • Institutes corrective action to reschedule appointments and notifies patient when there is a change in provider schedule or cancellation for urgent or emergent situations. Perform clerical duties related to patient referrals, notify appropriate personnel and route patient records according to established protocols.
  • Receptionist duties include: receive phone calls and assess the patient's need for routine, urgent and emergent appointments with appropriate providers and clinic; answer inquired of a general nature by; nursing staff, physician staff, other departments, visitors, and patients, assist them in a friendly and cooperative manner; receive and relay messages to personnel on units and use proper telephone etiquette.
  • Transcribe physician orders pertaining to diagnostic tests, keep patient records in order with all forms properly identified; copies and compile other data as directed. Apply a more extensive knowledge of medical practice and terminology and judgment based on substantial experience in medical record keeping.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

GS-05: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level OR four (4) years above the high school level.

GS-06: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.

General Experience: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:

Examples of specialized experience at the GS-05 level: schedule appointments, respond to inquiries and requests through telephone, correspondence and personal visits, record keeping, maintain record of confidentially and safeguard patient information, use electronic systems to provide clerical office support.

successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level.
