Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13 grade level if you fulfill the following qualifications:To qualify for the GS-13, applicants must have:
  • First professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) accredited by the American Bar Association; and
  • Proof of license and active membership in the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia. (A copy of the applicant's bar card or letter from the bar may be acceptable evidence); and
  • Professional legal experience in excess of 2 years that is commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Qualification standards for attorney positions may be found in DoD Directive 1442.2, "Personnel Actions Involving Civilian Attorneys" at Preferred competencies and experience will be identified in each vacancy announcement.
