Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Six years of experience in information technology systems administration including creating, analyzing, and managing information technology systems are required. Additional related work experience in information technology systems administration including creating, analyzing, and managing information technology systems may substitute for the required college education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferences
Experience with the following is preferred:
- Short Path Bridging Protocol
- Designing, managing, and implementing complex network infrastructure projects
- OSPF routing protocol
- Protocols in a multi-area environment
- Software Defined Networking (SDN)
- Python Programming
- Switch scripting
- WIFI RF engineering
- WIFI enterprise management (non-controller based)
- O-auth
- SAML
- Open ID

The Information Technology Department Network & Transport Division IT Senior Systems Administrator position supports the County s Enterprise Communication Network. This is a complex and specialized technical support work in planning, designing, implementing, evaluating, maintaining, and management of complex enterprise data, voice, wireless, and fiber optic networks used in support of applications and control systems. The IT Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the engineering and support of the county s enterprise communication network.
This position s job duties include but are not limited to the analysis of vendor hardware, vendor software, determining corrective measures for hardware and applications malfunctions, determining the most feasible design for interfaces between hardware and application systems, and establishing and enforcing network security and hardware standards. Additional responsibilities include project design and programming of local area networks, wide area networks, wireless 802.11 networks, fiber optic communication networks, forecasting traffic analysis, conducting feasibility studies, and cost studies of new technology and production network infrastructure. General direction is received from an administrative superior who confers on application and operation problems and evaluates work for quality of results.
