Client Overview: Our client, a fitness/ wellness company, is seeking a Freelance Spanish Editor to support them in their mission to deliver translated and culturally-adapted fitness content to their Spanish speaking Members.

Copy Editor Responsibilities:

  • Review the EN>ES-MX and ES>EN subtitles for our classes with extreme attention to detail and in a timely manner.
  • Research and translate fitness terminology.
  • Review/QC closed captions.
  • Provide detailed feedback and suggest improvements to the Automatic Speech Recognition model.
  • Translate and/or review marketing copy and assets, in and out of Smartling.
  • Gain deep product knowledge and advise on market expectations in terms of subtitling and dubbing.
  • Review of dubbing scripts and provide feedback.
  • Advise on and update the Dubbing Guidelines.
  • Participate in voice casting sessions and advise on suitability of Spanish voices.
  • Review dubbed classes and provided feedback.
  • Support the Content Localization team with ad-hoc linguistic tasks as needed.

Copy Editor Qualifications:

  • Spanish speaker with advanced knowledge of grammar, syntax, idioms and slang
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • 4+ years of subtitling experience
  • 6+ years of translation, localization and transcription experience
  • Experience with subtitling/translating in one or more translation management systems
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Experience in attending dubbing recording sessions is a plus
  • Interest in fitness and content production an advantage
