Network Administrator
Yelcot is seeking a Network Administrator to support and maintain our critical network infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity for our customers and internal operations. This role requires expertise in both physical and logical networking, with a strong understanding of BGP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and subnetting. The ideal candidate will have experience configuring and managing network equipment, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and optimizing network performance.
Key Responsibilities
Network Operations & Performance
- Configure and manage data circuits to ensure reliable service delivery.
- Assist in the deployment and maintenance of fiber circuits and networking technologies, including GPON, DSL, and cable internet.
- Maintain and optimize routing protocols (BGP, static routing) to ensure efficient traffic flow.
- Oversee the management of public and private IP subnets, DHCP, DNS, and VLAN configurations.
- Conduct performance testing on customer circuits to verify network reliability and service quality.
Network Security & Monitoring
- Administer firewalls and VPN configurations to maintain a secure network environment.
- Assist in DDoS mitigation efforts and overall network security initiatives.
- Monitor network performance and system backups to ensure business continuity.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide network troubleshooting and support for business and residential customers.
- Deploy and maintain network equipment at remote sites (some travel required).
- Participate in on-call support for network-related issues.
Infrastructure & Datacenter Support
- Assist with virtualization administration, preferably in a VMware environment.
- Perform routine maintenance on Windows and Linux servers to ensure system reliability.
- Support backup and disaster recovery solutions to protect critical data and infrastructure.
Collaboration & Vendor Management
- Work with the VoIP team on SIP trunks, VLAN provisioning, and network troubleshooting.
- Assist in managing datacenter infrastructure and optimizing network performance.
- Collaborate with vendors to procure and support network hardware.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven experience in physical and logical networking environments.
- Strong knowledge of BGP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and subnetting.
- Hands-on experience with firewall management (Fortinet preferred).
- Familiarity with network monitoring and configuration backup tools.
- Experience with Cisco, Calix, Ciena, FortiGate, and Ubiquiti is a plus.
- Additional expertise in VMware, backup solutions, or IPTV systems is beneficial.
- Willingness to travel to remote sites as needed and participate in on-call support.
- Must reside within 30 miles of Gassville, AR.
