
Engineering Technician

- Inspect project sites by exercising initiative and authority in determining best method of courses of action with consideration given to in progress changes.
- Review directives and criteria from using activities and Engineer offices outlining the requirements and fund limitations of proposed work.
- Participate in on site pre-design conferences to disseminate project information and firmly establish scope of work.
- Aid in assembly and presentation of all contract drawings, specifications, and other data required to solicit bids for construction.
- Act as Engineering Division coordinator for the organizational segment charged with administering construction activities.

Applicants who are Current or Prior Federal Service Employees
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Assisting in performing engineering project planning, design OR project management; AND 2) Performing technical work in drafting portions of design work i.e., design calculations, equipment specifications and selection, and building and safety code verification. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Applicants who are NOT Current or Prior Federal Service Employees
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Assisting in performing engineering project planning, design OR project management; AND 2) Performing technical work in drafting portions of design work i.e., design calculations, equipment specifications and selection, and building and safety code verification. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
Although not a requirement, proficiency in computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) system is highly desirable.
