RECREATION ASSISTANT
Performs and/or assists in operation and maintenance of recreational facilities. Follows schedules of events as well as the rules and regulations to be observed. Types of duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Tests water-skiing and boating equipment for safe operation; demonstrates safety and conservation techniques for campsites, water sports and beach areas; demonstrates equipment and techniques of various outdoor activities such as camping, swimming, and boating; inspects outdoor recreation facilities and equipment for security and general conditions; schedules campsites, cabins, boats, and other outdoor recreation equipment and areas for use, with responsibility for seeing that they are vacated or returned in good order. Collects use fees, receives funds from resale operations, performs inventory and cash handling duties in accordance with established cash handling and accountability procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Applicant must have experience which provides a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs; and practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational activities and equipment, rules and procedures in a recreation program activity which has involved recreation work. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 background investigation.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
