  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health/ability/fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 45lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Employee will be required to obtain and maintain any installation and/or DOD license required for the type vehicle being operated.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. Perform common preventive maintenance duties as appropriate. Provide routine preventive maintenance work to include electrical, carpentry, painting, and plumbing repairs; repair doors, walls and windows; repair bathroom fixtures; prep surfaces for painting; repair electrical devices such as switches, outlets, plates; use a variety of hand and power tools safely and correctly; and work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: The work requires extensive walking, standing, bending and stooping. Occasionally climbs ladders or uses lift devices to perform high cleaning and maintenance operations. Frequently lifts heavy objects such as boxes of cleaning supplies, buckets of liquids and panels or parts removed from equipment for servicing or maintenance. Lifts items weighing in excess of 45 pounds with assistance.

???????Working Conditions: Incumbent is exposed to hazards of moving parts and sharp blades when working with power tools and exposed belts when performing maintenance on equipment. Exposure to harsh cleaning solutions and chemicals occurs daily. Wear of protective clothing and equipment is required. Work performed from high ladders and platforms requires the use of safety straps.
