Maintenance Manager
Job Title: Maintenance Manager
Reports to: General Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Purpose
To provide managerial and operational leadership for the Maintenance department, ensuring efficient and effective maintenance of the facility, equipment, and systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate activities of the Maintenance department associates.
- Develop and implement work schedules to support operational needs.
- Recommend personnel actions such as hiring, retention, promotion, and transfers.
- Assign duties to team members and schedule break periods, work hours, and vacations.
- Conduct performance evaluations and ensure compliance with HR policies.
- Train associates in company policies, departmental procedures, and job responsibilities.
- Conduct regular facility inspections and ensure proper maintenance and upkeep.
- Maintain records of inspections, maintenance activities, and vendor service reports.
- Ensure all equipment remains operational and manage repair processes.
- Generate and oversee work orders for internal repairs and vendor services.
- Monitor and manage vendor contracts and service completion via work order tracking software.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Prepare reports for administration and general management as needed.
- Oversee procurement of spare parts, repairs, and equipment replacements.
- Maintain good sanitation practices across the facility.
- Manage the daily operations of all Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
- Supervise vendor contractual preventative maintenance agreements.
- Communicate and coordinate facility repairs with approved contractors.
- Work closely with the maintenance clerk to manage purchasing, invoicing, and inspections.
- Serve as a key contact for emergency facility needs during and outside of business hours.
Minimum Requirements
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong ability to initiate and implement operational programs.
- High level of computer literacy and familiarity with WMS systems.
- Experience in warehouse maintenance management preferred.
- Some college-level training is a plus but not required.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to interact with all levels of management effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Leadership ability to manage and motivate a diverse workforce.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a computer.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
Work Environment
- Distribution center environment with varying temperatures.
