About Bedford 2030: Bedford 2030 is a nonprofit committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preserving natural resources in our community and beyond. Since 2010, we’ve inspired our community to take action, and with our current goal of reducing emissions by 80% by 2030, we’re building a team to make this vision a reality.
Role Overview: As Program Director, you'll lead the development and execution of programs and campaigns that focus on key action areas: Buildings, Transportation, and Natural Climate Solutions. You’ll guide a small team, direct our resources towards success, and build partnerships to drive impactful change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Executive Director to define program goals, both short and long-term, identifying opportunities for growth, improvement, innovation and efficiency. Partner with the Communications Manager to shape effective messaging and outreach strategies.
- Program Leadership: Planning and management of all programs, lead the execution of initiatives, and ensure alignment with our mission. Develop clear objectives, timelines, and budgets to drive success.
- Expertise: Achieve subject matter expert status on climate-related issues within our priority action areas, regularly updating and briefing the team on new developments. Create content briefs to guide outreach and messaging.
- Team and Resource Management: Manage the Program Administrator. Manage budgets, and secure funding.
- Impact Measurement: Collect and analyze program data to assess effectiveness and impact. Prepare reports for stakeholders, funders, and board members, ensuring transparent communication of results.
- Resource Management & Budgeting: Monitor program budgets and expenses, ensuring efficient resource use. Work with the Executive Director and Development Manager to secure funding through grants and partnerships.
- Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement: Build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders, including community partners, government agencies, and funders. Represent Bedford 2030 at events, meetings, and conferences.
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree and/or 3-5 years experience in project management, communications, or marketing.
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent communicator who can translate complex concepts into clear, compelling messaging
- Strong ability to propose, plan, and execute projects independently
- Experience with budgeting, timelines, and tracking project results
- Skilled at managing multiple projects, adapting to shifting priorities
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and communication tools (e.g., Asana, Slack, Canva, Social Media, etc.)
- Licensed and insured driver with a reliable car
Personal Attributes:
- Passion for climate and environmental issues; related experience is a big plus
- Self-starter, organized, and a strategic thinker
- Team player who thrives in a collaborative environment
- Positive, proactive, and enthusiastic about tackling challenges
Working Conditions: This is a hybrid position. Work is performed in a home office environment with in-person meetings as needed at The Bedford 2030 office in Katonah, NY. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required. Must live in the Bedford, New York, surrounding area.
Compensation: $70,000 - $75,000 (based on experience), plus health benefits, generous holidays, personal days, and a flexible 4-day workweek.
