Job Summary
Create and deliver original and engaging written content for all communication mediums. Proofread and copy edit all internal and external communication pieces, ensuring correct grammatical usage, punctuation, and syntax.
Essential Functions
Writing:
- Demonstrate ability to handle both short and long-form narrative writing styles
- Engage audiences with an imaginative and thought-provoking writing style that makes stories both informational and entertaining
- Generate engaging, effective, and original content for all internal and external communications mediums and media including articles, press releases, web posts, company magazine, research series, and more
- Implement search engine optimization (SEO) techniques when writing for online platforms
- Review all written material for grammatical, punctuation and syntax mistakes
- Conduct fact checking on all pieces confirming accuracy and validity
- Deliver timely solutions in the appropriate medium and maintain project files for future use
- Ensure that all organizational messages are correctly articulated
- Be an enthusiastic, flexible, and conscientious teammate who loves agriculture, supports your teammates, and helps drive the creative process
- Be an organized self-starter and manage multiple projects and deadlines while remaining flexible despite changes to production schedules.

- Maintain a cooperative working relationship with employees, contractors, visitors, and guests
- Undertake activities that advance the team, complete departmental work orders and other paperwork, and steward Institute equipment to preserve the useful life of such equipment
- Responsible for routinely checking email correspondence and associated attachments
- Other duties as assigned
- A minimum of 3 years of experience developing written materials in a professional setting (newspaper, PR/communications office, corporate office, or agency) is also required
- Experience and strong network in agriculture is preferred
- Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or related field required; master's degree preferred
- Valid US driver's license Required
- Certifications or additional training in copy editing Preferred
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrate an ability to generate creative storytelling, stewarding these ideas from inception and production to delivery
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer use and knowledge of computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, internet use)
- Knowledge of industry standards and practices
- Knowledge of and ability to utilize industry resources
- Ability to adapt and remain flexible and dependable in a consistently changing environment
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees
