Responsibilities
- Responding to Customer Complaints - Investigate customer concerns, document issues, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to improve customer satisfaction and retention.
- Root Cause Analysis & Problem-Solving - Utilize industry-standard methodologies such as:
- 8D (Eight Disciplines Problem-Solving) to address and prevent recurring defects.
- 5 Why Analysis to drill down into the root cause of quality issues.
- Ishikawa (Fishbone) Diagrams to identify potential causes of defects.
- Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to assess risks and prevent failures in processes and products.
- Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) Documentation - Oversee PPAP submissions, ensuring that all required documentation meets customer and regulatory requirements.
- Control Plans & FMEA - Develop and maintain control plans to ensure critical characteristics are consistently met. Implement FMEA to proactively assess and mitigate risks in manufacturing and design processes.
- Non-Conformance Management (NCMR - Non-Conforming Material Reports) - Handle non-conforming products, analyze defects, and work with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions and process improvements.
- Quality Testing & Inspection - Oversee product inspections, in-process checks, and final testing using appropriate measurement tools, gauges, and methodologies.
- Working with Blueprints & Technical Specifications - Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and specifications to ensure that manufactured products meet design intent.
- Quality Planning & Strategy - Develop and implement quality strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, regulatory compliance, and customer expectations.
- Supplier & Vendor Quality Management - Collaborate with suppliers to establish and maintain quality standards for incoming materials. Conduct supplier audits and manage supplier corrective action requests (SCARs).
- Audits & Compliance - Lead internal and external audits (ISO 9001)
- Deviation Management - Approve, track, and manage deviations from standard procedures or product specifications while ensuring minimal risk to quality.
- Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing - Drive quality and efficiency improvements using Six Sigma, Lean, and Kaizen methodologies to reduce waste and variation in processes.
- Training & Team Development - Educate employees on quality standards, control plans, and best practices to instill a culture of quality and accountability.
- Metrics, Reporting & Data Analysis - Track key quality metrics such as scrap rates, defect rates, and customer complaint trends, providing data-driven recommendations for improvement.
