POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC (Title 32)
- Troubleshoot deficiencies and repair flight critical equipment including lifting devices, turbine powered generators, towing devices and auxiliary power units.
- Repair of power ground and other support equipment used in aircraft servicing and repairs.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and components related to electrical power production equipment and aircraft arresting systems.
- Trouble-shoot equipment and determine the extent of repairs as well as the parts required.
- Troubleshoot, tune-up and adjust of internal combustion and turbine engines, fuel controls, carburetors, clutch linkage, brakes and other mechanical links that utilize common hand tools and a variety of test equipment.
- Troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, or rebuild diesel or gasoline engines, generators, starter motors, carburetors, associated generating and distributing equipment and aircraft arresting systems.
- Read and apply technical manuals, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings and to measure and work.
- Maintain records and equipment log books.
- Preventive maintenance and servicing of equipment including repairing and replacing tires, lubrication, oil changes, replacing air, fuel and oil filters, checking fluid levels.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:
- The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
- The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
- The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
- The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
- The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.
Military Grades: Warrant Officer/Enlisted - May not exceed the rank of CW3
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing, and repairing equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-10 Level - MUST possess specialized experience which includes experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories. Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics. WG-08 Level - MUST possess specialized experience which includes experience or training that demonstrates a basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic theory and the makeup and operation of the various individual systems and their interrelationships. Experience using a small variety of test and measurement devices. Experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components and accessories. Experience reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
