Title: Technical Project Manager (Digital Technology)

JOB PURPOSE

Provide technical project leadership for Upbound Digital Technology projects. Develop and manage project plans to ensure alignment with business objectives. Responsibilities include cross-functional team leadership, tracking project timelines and budgets, communicating progress to stakeholders, and driving business outcomes to production delivery. The Technical project manager performs risk management, resource allocation and capacity planning, and fostering collaboration among cross-functional teams. Strong leadership and a deep understanding of technology software development lifecycles in agile and waterfall are essential for success in this position. Drives governing standards, processes, continuous improvement and tools used for effective project delivery. Leads and oversee the implementation of agile methodologies within technology projects and teams. Ensures on time and on budget successful delivery of all projects in their area of responsibility. Drive the end to end agile program, Coordinating and driving the planning activities including milestone setting, budget forecasting, resource planning, and developing a coordinated program plan based off of cross-functional inputs and assumptions; Responds to escalated project issues that may impede project delivery and coordinates solutions; Monitors and analyzes project metrics to identify weaknesses or problems and to propose operational improvements and cost savings for future projects; Produces reports on key initiatives (Key Accomplishments, Next Steps, Key Issues and Risks, Team Measurement and other pertinent metrics as required). Keeps project status updated so dashboards reflect current state.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drives on time, on budget, quality delivery across all teams responsible for delivery of the approved strategic, business, and technology initiatives
  • Drive the end-to-end agile program management framework
  • Drive agile adoption and maturity plans including but not limited to Scrum Adoption, Quarterly Planning, continuous planning
  • Lead the end-to-end management of strategic, business, and technology initiatives
  • Coordinating and driving the planning activities including milestone setting, budget forecasting, resource planning, and developing a coordinated program plan based off of cross-functional inputs and assumptions
  • Responds to escalated project issues that may impede project delivery and coordinates solutions.
  • Monitors and analyzes project metrics to identify weaknesses or problems and to propose operational improvements and cost savings for future projects.
  • Produces reports on key initiatives (Key Accomplishments, Next Steps, Key Issues and Risks, Team Measurement and other pertinent metrics as required). Keeps project status updated so dashboards reflect current state.
  • Understands technology ecosystem to ensure end to end planning is sufficient for Upbound projects. Aligns with all platform and value stream leaders to drive the deliverables required of their teams which contribute to the end-to-end Upbound initiatives
  • Leads across value streams and platforms to deliver on enterprise initiatives from a technology delivery perspective

ADDITIONAL/ SHARED RESPONSIBILITES (Please highlight regular work with other departments or with external vendors/companies/individuals)

  • Close partnership with Engineering & Product Management on delivery plans
  • Partner with SIG to align technology projects to enterprise strategic initiatives
  • Partner with all business stakeholders as it pertains to technology projects and deliverables

KEY SKILL & COMPETENCIES

Functional Skills & Expertise level required.

  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to ensure successful execution of technology programs
  • Expert in strategic planning and partnering with business, product, and technology to drive strategic plans, prioritization, estimation, and budget vs actuals
  • Expert in agile adoption and agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc
  • Proven experience in developing and driving risk and change management frameworks
  • Ability to communicate and partner successfully with stakeholders at all levels from individual contributors to senior executives
  • Ability to establish, track, and report on key metrics and benchmarks
  • Strong executive presence, business acumen, and experience reporting to executives
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering, business processes, reporting, budget planning, and cross team collaboration
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain IT concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to the PMO and engineering

Leadership (Management/ Behavioral) Skills & Expertise level required.

  • Minimum 5 7 years of recent experience in program, project, and portfolio management with increasing technology leadership responsibilities
  • Expert with proven experience in program management in the technology field operating in an agile framework
  • Proven experience leading and driving technology teams in a matrix reporting structure fostering collaboration and strong sense of ownership to delivering initiatives
  • Significant experience in agile transformation and the ability to lead organizations through agile adoption
  • Understand other engineering processes and methodologies and can speak intelligently about them and leverage other techniques to provide value to a team/enterprise

Desired Technical Experience:

  • Experience with HR systems, particularly with ADP to Workday migrations
  • Experience with AWS API Services

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor s in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5 or more years of overall experience in IT with progressive project leadership responsibilities
  • Project Management (PMP) and Agile (CSM) certifications a plus
  • Keen ability to lead, inspire, motivate, and collaborate with cross functional stakeholders
  • Experience with one or more agile or lean methodologies (Lean, Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc)
