Your Role
YFA is committed to providing dynamic leadership. Every leadership position will demonstrate the values we all strive for of inspiration, integrity, impactful, integrated and innovation. The VP of Development plays a major role in planning, soliciting, cultivating, and nurturing financial support for the organization. The VP of Development also provides leadership and supervision of internal and external communications to strengthen YFA's identity across key stakeholder audiences.
This position will also be responsible for annual giving, legacy, major and planned gifts, and oversee grant applications. The VP of Development manages, supervises and mentors a team of development and communication professionals while serving as a forward-facing member of the leadership team. In addition, this position leads quarterly YFA Foundation board meetings.

What You Will Do
- Implement, coordinate, and manage annual giving programs to ensure resources for the agency’s ongoing programs and services.
- Implement, coordinate, and manage major gift programs including legacy gifts, and capital campaigns.
- Work with the Chief of Program and Business Development to organize and manage the agency’s planned giving program to increase the organization's assets, including cultivating prospects for charitable gift annuities and bequests, managing the activities of the planned giving committee and assisting with recruitment efforts.
- Manage and coordinate efforts of the development team to ensure retention and focus on revenue generation.
- Maintain consistent personal contact with current donors, prospects, Development Committee members and Foundation Board of Directors.
- Create and maintain an annual donor cultivation and stewardship plan for the organization, including implementing a stewardship plan aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors.
- Increase donor engagement through cultivation activities.
- Work with the Foundation Board of Directors and Development Committee on annual board giving campaigns, provide ongoing fundraising training and mission stories to assist in their fundraising efforts.
- Identify and recruit high-profile and influential community leaders(s) as champions of the organization.
- Oversee internal and external communications through the YFA Communications Manager.
- Oversee grant applications, including coordination of external YFA grant writers.
- Develop coordinated communication and solicitation strategies involving multiple media, face-to-face visits, and fundraising volunteers.
- Identify major gift prospects through database analysis and donor engagement.
- Develop, prepare and present regular fundraising reports to leadership, Development Committee and Foundation Board of Directors, but not limited to, weekly, monthly, annual, and Board reports.
- Oversees the donor management system (CRM), including data entry, donor acknowledgement, tracking and reporting.
- Identify and supervise a volunteer to assist in management of the organization volunteer program, including coordinating across departments to identify program needs for volunteers.
- Collaborate with the Chief of Program and Business Development and Chief Financial Officer to develop and implement the organization’s financial strategy.

WHAT YOU NEED:
- Master’s degree in communications, public relations, business, or other related areas and 8 years experience or Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of senior leadership in development and fundraising in a non-profit setting, CFRE desired.
- Experience in developing and implementing an annual fund campaign, planned giving and major gifts programs.
- Experience managing social media and digital campaigns.
- Experience developing and managing volunteer programs.
- Experience in managing and supervising support staff.
- Experience fostering an environment of teamwork within the development department and working effectively as a member of the organization’s management team.
