About The Job
We need you to fill the role of Personal Trainer. This is a part-time, hourly (non-exempt) position. Trainers will conduct a variety of assessments beginning with a preparticipation health-screening and may also include assessments of posture and movement, flexibility, balance, core function, cardio-respiratory fitness, muscular fitness, body composition, and skill-related parameters (e.g. power, agility, coordination, speed, and reactivity) to observe and gather relevant information needed to develop an effective exercise program and support client goal attainment. Assessments should be performed at the beginning and after a training program to measure client progress towards improved physical fitness.

- Trainers create exercise programs following a progression model, using the baseline assessment as the starting point of a client’s physical abilities, and framing the program to fit the individual personally.
- Trainers also provide education on many other aspects of wellness, including general health and nutrition guidelines.
- Qualified personal trainers or certified personal trainers (CPTs) recognize their own areas of expertise. If a trainer suspects that one of their clients has a medical condition that would prevent the client from safe participation in an exercise program, they must refer the client to the proper health professional for medical clearance.
- Trainers are required to support in the supervision of the safety and welfare of members throughout the fitness center.
- Trainers are responsible in managing their schedule and appointments with members, including sending calendar invites, cancellations, communicating, and listening in a professional manner.
- Attend meetings as requested, including evening and/or weekend meetings.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- HS graduation or GED.
- Must be currently certified in CPR and AED (Acceptable certifications include American Heart Association and American Red Cross; any other certification must be approved by the hiring manager).
- Must be currently certified through a nationally accredited (NCCA) body. Acceptable organizations include the following: -American Council on Exercise (ACE): Certified Personal Trainer or higher; -National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA): Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS); -American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM): Certified Personal Trainer or higher; or -National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM): Certified Personal Trainer.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients to achieve a safe and effective workout.
- 2 - 5 years of personal training experience.
