- A legal team is seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer for a 12-month contract assignment. This role involves providing legal guidance on various employment matters, drafting and negotiating employment-related documents, and ensuring compliance with labor laws. The individual will work closely with Human Resources and business leaders to support workplace culture, compliance efforts, and risk mitigation.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. university.
- Licensed to practice law in California (active and in good standing).
- 10+ years of employment law experience, including at least 1 year of in-house counsel experience.
- Entertainment industry experience is a plus.
- Association of Workplace Investigators Certificate is preferred.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Exceptional legal drafting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and meet deadlines.
- A collaborative, proactive, and business-savvy mindset.
- Serve as lead counsel on matters related to restrictive covenants, background checks, I-9 audits, employee onboarding, and misappropriation issues.
- Advise on terminations, employee relations, wage and hour compliance, employment agreements, executive compensation, pay transparency, workplace policies, and disability accommodations.
- Draft and negotiate various employment-related documents, including employment agreements, severance agreements, offer letters, independent contractor agreements, and revenue share agreements.
- Develop and implement company-wide employment policies and procedures.
- Assist Human Resources with employee benefits, leaves of absence, and disability accommodations.
- Support M&A activities, including due diligence, workforce integration, and employment agreement negotiations.
