Summary:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for the execution of business development activities and has full responsibility for developing, managing, and expanding market share within the drug/device development sector of the life sciences industry.
What you will do:
- Successfully develop prospect sponsor relationships to sell PharPoint’s core services and capabilities via a consultative selling approach.
- Meet or exceed defined key performance indicators and goals.
- Leverage subject matter experts early in the process to consult and guide customers.
- Ensure all business development activities are in Salesforce.com and utilize Salesforce.com to accurately track forecasted pipeline to present to management.
- Maintain a pipeline of opportunities by identifying and developing accounts that will have strategic impacts on the short, medium, and long-term success of PharPoint.
- Prepare and present PharPoint’s core services and capabilities effectively and knowledgeably across multiple decision makers as required.
- Act as brand ambassador for PharPoint at industry events as requested by senior management.
- Collaborate with management, study staff, partners, and sponsors to provide strategy and planning for successful implementation of projects.
- Develop quarterly business development plans for review by management.
- Stay up to date on industry knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications, maintaining personal and professional networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Provide input to proposals and management to increase win probabilities.
- Use customer-centric, well-written and tailored communication.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in Life Science, Business Administration or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of proven success in business development or marketing, preferably in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and/or contract research organization (CRO) industry.
- Certification/Licensure: None
- Other:
- Proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Power Point and Excel
- Experience with web-based (Customer Relationship Management) CRM applications
- Possess a “hunter” mentality and grow business from net new sales
- Strong influencing, negotiation, management and leadership skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive stakeholder relations
- Experience working in a team selling environment with subject matter experts
- Understanding of the clinical process in a CRO environment
- Ability to communicate priorities for budget development and clearly written proposals
- Ability to conduct meetings in a professional manner
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet changing deadlines and demands
