Contract Duration: 9 months of contract
Summary:
Extensive experience with implementing and managing BI platforms for business intelligence, data applications, and embedded analytics. Experience in designing and delivering complex platform architectures. A passion for understanding and integrating business semantics into technology solutions. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, client-facing role were delivering solid work products to exceed high expectations is a measure of success. Excellent communication, presentation, influencing, and reasoning skills. Ability to lead complex projects.
Duties:
- Identify and implement various automation solutions using scripting.
- Work closely with internal IT, Server, and Security teams to troubleshoot, including reviewing logs and resolving issues with production/non-production environments.
- Work independently and provide solutions to users.
- Manage Power BI Gateways to keep the dashboards and reports refreshed automatically.
- Build CI/CD pipeline to check in and migrate Power BI datasets/dashboards/reports between workspaces utilizing Power BI Rest APIs/Power Platform.
- Build & Support Power BI platform metrics such as user tracking/logging, usage monitoring, anomalies detection in published datasets, and reporting at an enterprise level using Power BI Platform.
- Configure Power BI Tenant settings for PBI features such as (workspace settings, Export and sharing settings, Publish to web, Developer settings).
- Manage Power BI Premium capacities for capacity planning and performance management.
- Monitor premium capacities regularly to look for trends that indicate underlying issues.
- Train self-service BI users and support the business in promoting self-service BI and the overall data platform through communications, collateral, and training material.
- Support BI production environment for large-scale user base.
- Available on-call support for production issues.
- Provide leadership and vision for best usage and practices with regards to the Cognos toolset.
- Setting standards and guidelines for BI development.
- Mentor other team members for knowledge transfer.
Required Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in managing BI platforms, including Power BI, Looker, and Amazon QuickSight.
- Extensive experience with Python programming, Shell Scripting, and PowerShell Scripting.
- Experience working with various product APIs to automate admin functions.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in setting up security using Active Directory, Azure AD, and Ping Federate.
- Experience working on configuring OAuth and SAML configurations for SSO implementation.
- Experience defining SDLC processes and CI/CD processes using Jenkins.
- Integrating Looker with a Git repo for code commits.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with platform governance and resiliency.
- Power BI Service architecture design and administration, including but not limited to Azure and Power BI Administration, PBI Premium Capacity Administration, and extensive knowledge of Power BI Premium Service as a whole, including troubleshooting and automation opportunities to streamline operations.
- Experience with Looker setup and administration.
- Architect and develop data models, ETL packages, and reports utilizing Power BI, applying best practices to the development lifecycle. Data modeling experience with the Kimball method.
- Experience with more than one database tool such as Snowflake, Oracle, DB2, and SQL Server.
- Understanding of various external components that BI tools depend on for successful connectivity, including Network, Firewall, Proxy, etc.
- Integrating Power BI with different tools, including but not limited to Splunk, Collibra, and ServiceNow.
- Understanding of prerequisites for a successful connection setup.
- Strong ability to quickly propose solutions by recalling the latest best practices learned from MVP & Product Team articles, vendor documentation, whitepapers, and community publications
