Job Title: Content Editor 3
Location: Remote (but MUST work in PST time zone)
Schedule: M-F (40 HR, no OT)
Duration/Start Date: 3/24/2025
Salary Range: $84,000 - $92,000/ annually
Candidates with previous experience working at Microsoft Corporation, either as a full-time employee (FTE) or contractor, are strongly preferred.
Summary:
The main function of a Content Editor is to write technical materials, such as equipment materials, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions. A typical technical editor is responsible for organizing, editing and maintaining technical records and files.
Job Responsibilities:
Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology
Maintain records and files of work and revisions
Confer with client to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication
Role Summary:
The purpose of this team is building support abilities for authors such as troubleshooting products for their articles and solution product tools. The team is looking for someone who can understand the brand they're trying to showcase and style guidelines which how to communicate with their customers in a technical way.
Key projects: This role will contribute to supporting the whole team and the use of management with Azure products or any Microsoft products with guideline troubleshoot, attending office hour meetings on Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons for write up health documentation.
Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of 75% independent work, 10% office hours meetings and 20% collaborating on teams with editors, authors and teammates.
This role provides the opportunity to work in multiple programs and no micromanaging.
Unique Selling Points: Work on documents that span across all Azure Products. Will work with an engaged and passionate community of authors.
Candidate Requirements
Years of Experience Required: 5-7 overall years of experience in the field.
Degrees or certifications required: Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science or English, journalism, communications is required to be eligible for this role.
Disqualifiers: Candidates with no technical support, documentation knowledge, product support or support ability will not be eligible for the role.
Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain having azure experience.
Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on deadlines and quality of work.
Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience
1. Minimum 5-7 years experience with Azure DevOPS.
2. Minimum 5 years experience with Microsoft teams.
3. Minimum 5 years experience with Technical writing and copywriting.
The editor will work on reviewing Self-help Customer Facing content for Azure. This content is created by SPMs from Azure and it needs to be reviewed and fine tunned by the editor.
