Summary Of Responsibilities Include
- Coordinate, develop, implement, and interpret financial accounting and reporting laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure that all financial statements and related transactions follow GASB and GAAP accounting principles and standards.
- Prepare and review the Annual Financial Report, including Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow, MD&A, Notes, CU forms, and consolidation of all DSOs.
- Manage data requests, including but not limited to IPEDS, Times Higher Education World University Rankings Survey, accreditation body financial profile, DBF, NCAA-AUP, and SUS reporting submissions.
- Oversee month-end close, reconciliations, and year-end close processes, maintaining the general ledger.
- Ensure accuracy of complex year-end entries, including Pension and OPEB, Scholarship Allowance, Compensated Absences, bond discount amortization, and application of new GASB and GAAP policies.
- Coordinate and compile support for audits, including flux and variance analysis, operational/internal control, CU, and financial reporting audits with the IG, DOE, and AG.
- Serve as liaison for all audits (internal or external) as assigned by and in collaboration with the Controller.
- Oversee construction project approvals, funding source rules, accruals, and collaboration with Facilities Management and Budget Office for year-end roll forward of construction budgets, including developing new and streamlined reports to help Facilities and Budget Offices better evaluate financial performance.
- Service help desk requests, including detail code requests, financial statement mapping, and maintaining Account Posting Rules in Workday.
- Serve on internal and external sub-committees, as assigned by the Controller, including but not limited to EOT, ICOFA, Marketplace Site Requests, and Auxiliary Fee & Chargeback Committee.
- Develop and implement training manuals and workflow and internal procedural documentation for General Accounting and Construction Projects.
- Assist with validation and data integrity testing of the ERP (Workday and Banner) to improve efficiency and internal controls.
- Work with OIT to resolve technical matters and automate processes.
- Provide customer service and guidance on compliance with construction projects and accounting.
- Hire, train, direct, and mentor staff for professional growth and development.
- Oversee Controller’s Office website content to assist departments with resources, planning, and deadlines.
- Encourage innovative approaches to increase effectiveness and enhance data visualizations for the Controller's Office financial data purview. Advise and suggest improvements to the Controller, then implement and maintain them with the accounting team.
- Advise and work closely with the Controller to improve close processes, increase efficiency through automation and variance analyses, leverage AI and data tools, and enhance reporting for end users.
- Assist the Controller with ad hoc projects and job-related duties as needed.
