The Training & Development Coordinator earns a competitive salary of $68,000-$75,000/year based on qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. We also offer a retirement plan through the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) with a 2:1 employer match, life insurance, disability, access to the City's recreation fitness center, employee assistance program, educational assistance, 11 paid holidays and 2 designated paid holidays, paid vacation, sick leave, and an active wellness program focusing on physical, mental, and financial health.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS THE TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

  • Design and Implement Training Programs: Develop and facilitate engaging, department-specific and citywide training programs that align with the City's goals and employee development needs.
  • Innovation in Learning: Utilize creative and cutting-edge training methods, including technology-based solutions, hands-on workshops, and interactive learning experiences.
  • Agility & Flexibility: Adapt training approaches and content as organizational needs evolve, ensuring continuous improvement and relevance.
  • Performance Support & Development: Partner with leadership to provide coaching, performance management training, and development resources that enhance employee growth and efficiency.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensure accuracy and effectiveness in training materials, documentation, and reporting on training outcomes and compliance.
  • Emotional Intelligence & Engagement: Foster an inclusive learning environment, recognizing diverse learning styles, and addressing unique employee and departmental training needs with empathy and strategic insight.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with department leaders to identify skill gaps, recommend training solutions, and evaluate the effectiveness of learning initiatives.
  • Training Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of training participation, feedback, and effectiveness metrics, ensuring training compliance and continuous enhancement.

  • Coordinate and lead LEAN initiatives.
  • Responsible for the management of the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Research and recommend training materials and methods.
  • Maintain in-house training equipment.
  • Communicate with HRBP's and Managers to ensure all needs are met.

  • Assist with recognition programs.
  • Host New Employee Experience and partner with HR Coordinators to create a successful onboarding experience.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in training and development, instructional design, or a related role.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in training technology, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), e-learning platforms, and virtual training tools.
  • Ability to analyze training effectiveness and implement continuous improvements. Requires four to eight years of Organizational Development, Training, Human Resources or closely related experience.
